X Factor judge Simon Cowell wins Emmy Award

X Factor judge Simon Cowell receives the International Emmy Founders Award 2010

X Factor judge Simon Cowell has received a special award at the International Emmys in New York.

He's been given the Founders Award for having "re-shaped 21st century television and music around the world", according to organisers.

The 51-year-old said: "When I think back over 10 years, I can genuinely say I've had the best time I've ever had in my life."

The International Emmys recognise TV shows that are made outside of America.

Simon Cowell is behind The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, shows that have had huge international success.

Earlier this year he quit his judging role on American Idol to focus on launching The X Factor in America.
