Cheryl Cole has scored the fastest selling non-charity single of the year, after Promise This sold over 157,000 copies in a week to top the charts.

The X Factor judge beat Rihanna's Only Girl (In The World) into second place, which itself sold a bumper 126,000. It's Rihanna's SIXTH number two hit!

The only song to sell more in its first week this year is the Helping Haiti charity single Everybody Hurts.

Promise This is from Cheryl's new album Messy Little Raindrops, out Monday.
