Paul the predicting octopus dies

Ricky looks back at Paul's greatest moments

Paul the octopus, who shot to fame by correctly predicting the results of eight World Cup matches, has died.

Staff at the Sea Life centre in Germany, where he lived, said they were devastated to find he'd passed away during the night.

Paul predicted the winners of all of Germany's games by picking a snack from one of two boxes put in his tank showing the flags of the sides playing.

When Germany were out of the Cup, he even predicted Spain would win!

Ricky meets Paul the octopus' pal

His keepers at the Oberhausen Sea Life Centre said his death was sad, but not unexpected, as octopuses usually only live a couple of years.

Manager Stefan Porwoll said: "His success made him almost a bigger story than the World Cup itself.

"We had all naturally grown very fond of him and he will be sorely missed."
