Wayne Rooney has revealed the real reason he wants to leave Manchester United - he's worried about the future of the squad.
The star striker said he couldn't get chief executive David Gill to assure him the club could still attract top players, so he doesn't want to stay.
"For me it's all about winning trophies - as the club has always done under Sir Alex," he said.
"Because of that I think the questions I was asking were justified."
Rooney also said he was surprised manager Sir Alex Ferguson said he couldn't understand why he wanted to go.

But he dismissed reports that he'd lost respect for the club and said he'd always owe his boss "a huge debt".
"He is a great manager and mentor who has helped and supported me from the day he signed me from Everton when I was only 18," he said.
"For Manchester United's sake I wish he could go on forever because he's a one off and a genius."
Contract
Rooney's current contract at Old Trafford lasts until the summer of 2012.
If Manchester United let him go before then, they can make money by selling him.
If Rooney stays until the summer of 2012, he'll be able to walk away for nothing.
