Usher's one of the world's biggest music stars. His number one single OMG is one of 2010's monster hits and he's set to storm the charts again this week with the special deluxe edition of his album Raymond v Raymond.

British Usher fans won't have to wait too long to see their idol live. He's just announced that his OMG Tour will come to the UK in January 2011 for five dates.

Read on to see what the smoothest man in music had to say when he spoke to Newsround...

Hi Usher, thanks for talking to Newsround! Congrats on your three MTV Europe Music Award nominations.

Thanks, I'm really happy. I've got a special fish suit made up - to take on Lady GaGa's meat dress.

Haha, great! OK, first question: what or who is your inspiration? - Najeeb, 8, Giffnock, Scotland

Michael Jackson, [entertainer] Sammy Davis Jr, [singer] James Brown, [actor] Sidney Poitier... They're unique icons.

What are the exciting things about your career? - Shauna, 13

I can do what I love, travel the world and make people very happy. Performing is the most exciting part. I like the exchange between myself and the fans; the adrenalin.

If you could work with any musician, dead or alive, who would it be? - Claire, 14, Edinburgh, Scotland

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson. His perspective on entertainment was so grand, as well as his ability to articulate it. Imagine how great a director he would have been, or how great a mentor for other talent.

When I met him, it was very positive. He gave me a pat on the back and said, "You're great at what you do." One thing he offered me was his perspective: "Always be conscious of making history - not just that little moment."

I got to perform with him, dance with him and sing with him. It was invigorating. I was extremely nervous because I wanted it to be perfect.

Was that the most nervous you've ever been? - Newsround

No, that was when I performed at Michael Jackson's memorial. It was a lot of pressure, a lot of emotion.

What is the best fan mail you have ever received? - Marley, 12, London, England

When I've been recognised for being a great inspiration in someone's life. It feels great to know you're doing something good for somebody. Many people do this job for a lot of different reasons. Of course I do it 'cause I enjoy it, but also 'cause I like to be an inspiration to others, the same way that Michael Jackson was an inspiration.

I got some incredible letters when I was in a musical on Broadway. Some people said that this had been their first time ever, having a theatre experience, and they loved it. To be able to do something for someone is the objective.

Who is your best pal in showbiz? - Sydney, 11, Cheltenham, England

I have a lot of friends in showbiz. One of my really good friends is Justin Bieber!

What do you think about Justin Bieber's success? - Krish, 11, Essex, England

Usher and Justin Bieber

I'm very happy about Justin's success. I'm very proud to see him have the experiences he's had at such a young age, and that people love what he does. It makes me very happy.

What were your thoughts when you first discovered Justin Bieber? - Rachael, 12, Liverpool, England

I thought he was very talented, and girls would think that he is very cute - and they would love him!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? - Imaan, 10, London, England

I would be invisible 'cause then you wouldn't be able to see where I was. I would be able to solve mysteries that people would never be able to solve and get information that other people would never be able to get.

And with that, it was time for us to disappear. Thanks for chatting to Newsround, Usher!
