Row over plans to burn Koran

A man who runs a church in America has caused a huge row, saying he wants to burn the Koran, the holy book of Islam.

Terry Jones is angry at plans for an Islamic centre near the site of the September 11 attacks in New York.

Many see burning the Koran as really offensive and there have been protests across the world. US President Obama even went on TV to tell Mr Jones not to burn the book.

The pastor has since said he won't go ahead with burning the Koran.

Terry Jones had planned to burn the book on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

On that date in 2001, Islamic extremists hijacked four planes flying above America.

Two of them were flown into the World Trade Center's twin towers in New York. Another flew into a top military building called the Pentagon and the fourth crashed into a field. About 3,000 people died in these attacks.

Pastor Terry Jones heads a small church in Florida that only has about 50 followers.
