Engineers have started drilling a rescue hole to reach the 33 miners trapped underground in Chile.
When the shaft is finished it will be about 60cm wide - just about wide enough for one person to be lifted out one at a time in a small capsule.
A really powerful drill made in Australia, called the Strata 950, is being used. The work is expected to take up to four months to complete.
The men have now been trapped 700m underground for more than three weeks.
On Sunday, relatives spoke to the miners by telephone for the first time, but were only allowed to talk for one minute.
Vital supplies such as medicine and clothes are still being sent down a narrow pipe.
The miners have also been sent MP3 players so they can listen to music and a small TV screen so they can watch football matches.
