Dogs are trained as lifeguards

Meet the dogs who are lifeguards!

Dogs are being trained up as lifeguards to rescue people on busy beaches in Italy.

Each dog works with a human lifeguard to help swimmers, and they've already saved several lives.

They are trained to jump off moving boats or jet skis, and the dogs all, wear a harness which swimmers can hold on to while they are towed to safety.

The dogs are also taught to take inflatable rubber rings out to anyone in trouble.

There are 12 schools in Italy where dogs can learn to be lifeguards.
