Bear is rescued after trapping its head in a jar

Bear traps its head in a jar

A bear in America had to be rescued after spending at least 10 days with its head trapped in a plastic jar.

The cub, who has been nicknamed Jarhead, got stuck after digging around in rubbish for something to eat.

The jar stopped the bear from eating or drinking, and it had nearly starved to death when it was found by animal experts.

They shot Jarhead's mum with a tranquiliser dart, before grabbing the jar and twisting it off.

The bears were later released and haven't been seen since.

One of the rescue team said: "Although the story appears to have a happy ending, it truly illustrates one of the worst things that can happen when wildlife gets into garbage."
