Money too tight for playground plans

How good is your playground?

If your playground is in need of a makeover, you might be waiting a while before it happens.

Thousands of playgrounds were supposed to be built or improved this year, but money's pretty tight for the Government so the plans have been put on hold.

Over the past few years, loads of playgrounds have been modernised with money from the Play Builders Scheme.

But now the Government says they don't think they have enough money to build anymore playgrounds.

They're now working out what they can afford to spend before making an official announcement at the end of the month.

It means that loads of children who were looking forward to getting rid of their rusty slides or broken swings could be waiting a lot longer for somewhere decent to play.
