Phillips Idowu is celebrating after winning Team GB's second gold at the European Athletics Championships with a new personal best in the triple jump.

He led right from the start but it was his fourth jump of 17.81m that secured him the European title in Barcelona, Spain.

It makes him the reigning European, world and Commonwealth champion. Phew!

The Londoner now has his eyes on winning the Olympic title when the Games come to his home city in 2012.

Phillips Idowu said: "There is one more medal in my career I need to win and that will come in a couple of years."

Idowu beat Romania's Marian Oprea into silver and the favourite, world indoor record holder Teddy Tamgho of France, had to settle for bronze.

There was also GB medal news over in the high jump, where Martyn Bernard took bronze.

After three days of competition, Great Britain are second behind Russia in the medals table with two golds, two silvers and a bronze.
