Cricketer takes record 800th wicket

Sri Lankan players celebrating

Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan has become the first bowler to take 800 Test wickets.

And he did it in style - it was the last day of his last ever Test and he needed to take eight wickets - or get eight people out - to set the record.

It didn't stop there - he also had to take the wicket of the last man batting for India.

Afterwards, he was carried off the pitch on his team-mates shoulders while the crowd went wild.

He said: "Definitely I am proud about it, because I played for 19 years, and I am getting tired and getting old as well. So that's why I thought this is the right time."

The 38-year-old has played for English counties Kent and Lancashire.

Most people agree it will be almost impossible for anyone to beat his new record.
