England team go UP in world footie rankings

England footie fans might be surprised to learn that Fabio Capello's squad have gone UP in the world rankings!

The team has risen one place to seventh, despite their performance in South Africa being rated as their worst ever at a World Cup.

Steven Gerrard and co were knocked out in the second round by Germany in a crushing 4-1 defeat.

World Cup champs Spain have toppled Brazil from the number one spot. The Netherlands are now second.

England's rise in the world rankings is partly because several big teams such as Italy and France did even worse!

Italy have dropped six places to 11th and France have fallen a massive 12 places to 21st!

There was good news for Uruguay though, who shot up ten places to number six, after making the semi-finals.

Footie bosses Fifa have also rated how all 32 teams in this year's World Cup. They did the maths and put England at 13th, their worst ever rating in the tournament.
