In pics: Murray wins Wimbledon opener

British number one Andy Murray started his campaign for the Wimbledon title on day two of the tournament. He was up against the Czech Republic's Jan Hajek.

Hajek made an impressive start and took an early lead in the first set. The Czech broke in game three thanks to a blistering forehand and a cute drop shot.

But Murray levelled things up in game eight and went on to win the set 7-5.

Before the match there had been question marks over Murray's form. He admitted to struggling for confidence after losing the Australian Open final to Roger Federer in January.

In the second set, Murray took an early break and proved unstoppable. He stormed through in 25 minutes to take the set 6-1.

Loads of people turned up to Murray Mount to watch the match. A British man hasn't won Wimbledon for over 70 years.

Andy Murray's mum Judy and his girlfriend Kim Sears (yes, they're back together!) were in court one to cheer on the Scot.

In the closing stages, Murray took a spectacular tumble. But he picked himself back up to seal his place in the next round, by taking the third and final set 6-2.

Murray is now the only British player left in Wimbledon - every other Brit has been knocked out in round one. No pressure, Andy!
