Film Review: Toy Story 3 3D

Woody, Buzz and the stars of Toy Story 3

Release date

19 July 2010, U.

The Plot

Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the gang are back on the big screen as their owner, Andy, packs up his things to move to university.

The toys find themselves in day care, a place filled with sticky fingered toddlers who won't play nice and a bossy strawberry scented teddy bear with his army of angry toys.

With no choice but to get out of the centre and head back to Andy's house the gang plan a great escape... but it isn't as easy as it looks.

The stars

Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Slinky and all your other favourite Toy Story stars are back for the third film.

Big Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and Santa Clause star Tim Allen do the voices for Woody and Buzz. Whoopi Goldberg also joins the cast as the voice of Stretch, a massive glittery purple octopus!

Best bits

The whole film is action packed and there weren't really any boring moments. There are a lot of parts where you are on the edge of your seat, especially when the toys decide to try and escape.

Woody wants to save the toys from going to daycare

There are some really, really funny parts too. We loved the bit when Buzz thinks he's Spanish and starts doing some crazy dance moves. Mr Potatohead's tasty transformation is also amazing!

What makes Toy Story 3 better than the other Toy Story films is that it's 3D. With your 3D specs you feel like you're flying through the trees with Woody!

Fave characters

On top of all of your old fave Toy Story characters, the gang meet a whole bunch of new toys on their long journey home.

Keep an eye out for Mr Pricklepants and his weird shorts...

Any weak bits?

Nope! There are some quite sad parts in the film so you might need your tissues at the ready.

Hit or miss?

A total hit!

NR rating:

Five out of five

Emille, 10, West Yorkshire, England

"I saw it in 2D but still loved it. Despite that, I still cried when Andy handed Woody over!"

Jennifer, 11, Gillingham, England

"Toy Story 3 is the best out of all the others! Incredibly FUNNY but emotional. I LOVE IT!"

Ella, 9, Yorkshire, England

"It was the best movie ever! I could watch it a million times! It's very funny, especially Barbie, Ken and Buzz."

David, 5, London, England

"I loved this movie. It was awesome but it can't beat Toy Story 1 and 2."

Anne, 12, England

"It was good but it unfortunately did not live up to the awesome-ness of the past Toy Story movies. Sorry Pixar."

Hannah-Jane, 12, Northampton, England

"Toy Story 3 is rubbish. It's so boring to watch."

Chloe, 10, Hull, England

"Me and my dad went to see this together and we were both crying near the end. Toy Story was the first film I ever watched so I'm really sad that there will be no more. My dad was really freaked out about the baby doll but I think it's nice. The children at the day care centre are horrible! I love it when Barbie starts ripping up Ken's clothes to make him talk, and I also love how the aliens save the toys. Overall it's the best film I've ever seen. 10/10!"

Kirsten, 11, Inverness, Scotland

"It's the best one yet!"

Teresa, 9, London, England

"I think that it is funny, but not as good as the other Toy Story films."

Kieran, 9, Co. Durham, England

"My sister, some of our friends and I went to see it and we all loved it. It was amazing but so sad. It made us cry so much!"

Amber, 13, London, England

"I LOVED IT but it was a bit sad."

Sophie, 13, Berkshire, England

Rose, 10, Kent, England

"Toy Story 3 was brilliant! It was the best out of all the Toy Story films. It was very funny and there were some very interesting characters such as Lotso and Ken. It was exciting too, although it was very sad in some parts and the 3D effects could have been used more. Great film, which gives it a 10/10 rating!"
