Rafa Benitez leaves Liverpool FC

Rafael Benitez has left his job as Liverpool manager, after six years at the club.

He said: "I would like to thank all of the staff and players for their efforts... I am very proud to say that I was your manager."

Rafa led the Anfield side to Champions League glory in 2005, but the Reds only finished seventh in the Premier League last season.

It's thought Rafa could be heading to Italian club Inter Milan.

Jose Mourinho recently left there to manage Real Madrid.

Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow and former manager Kenny Dalglish are to begin the search for a replacement.
