144 dead in Central America storm

Sink hole in Guatemala

Rescue workers in Central America have been trying to find survivors of tropical storms which hit the area over the weekend.

144 people are thought to have died and thousands have been left homeless as tropical storm Agatha hit.

In some areas the storms have caused huge sink holes to appear in the ground like this photo in Guatemala City.

Lots of villages were cut off by floods and landslides after more than one meter of rain fell.

Rescue teams have been digging through the mud to try to find people who are still missing.

The hardest hit country was Guatemala where 110,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.
