What do you think of the Olympic mascots?

Olympic mascots

London's 2012 Olympic mascots

Check out the new Olympic and Paralympic mascots for London 2012!

They're called Wenlock and Mandeville. The story is that they are made from two drops of the metal being used to build the stadiums.

The animation's aimed at kids because organisers want more children to get into sport, and watch the games.

So we want to know what you think. Do you like them? Will they make you more interested in sport?

Or would you prefer more traditional mascots?

"I LOVE these mascots. They're really funny and I wish they could come to my school."

Jack, 8, Devon, England

"I think the mascots are really cool because they look like amazing robots."

Sunil, 9, France

"It was strangely random but we thought they were really funny. They are different from other mascots and that is why we like them."

Class 3/4, 7-9, Leeds, England

"The video was rather odd but the idea is quite cool, and better than pandas or weird Sasquatch/Bigfoot things. They really did think outside the box for this one. It makes me proud that we came up with original ideas, quirky and odd, but still original!"

Daniel, 13, Cumbria, England

"I love the mascots, they are pretty good, and I hope that everyone will like them!"

Shah, 10, Essex, England

"They are really cute. I love their colours and shape!"

"I think the mascots look babyish."

Faisal, 9, Birmingham, England

"I think it is wicked!!! I love the Olympics and so does my sister!"

Kira, 10, Essex, England

Mark, 9, Camberley, England

"Really cool as they are unusual and cute. I like the fact that they use the Olympic colours. The story is really clever too!"

Lauren, 13, Leeds, England

"It's so babyish. I understand if they want kids to get involved with the Olympics but they look like badly designed chew toys!"

Hannah, 14, Kent, England

"I find the mascots kind of scary for some reason."

Sarah, 12, Dublin, Ireland

"I think they look silly! I would have preferred a normal mascot, like a tiger or a monkey."

Agne, 11, London, England

"They look ridiculous. We have a rubbish logo and rubbish mascots. They look like melted mobile phones!"

Richard, 11, Kent, England

"They aren't as cool as the Chinese panda ones, they were awesome!"

Bronwyn, 13, Stirling, Scotland

"I really like the mascots because of the British Union Jack colours! I think they really stand out and are very child friendly. If the children like them, then that means that probably more people will want to watch the Olympics in 2012!"

Rebecca, 11, Lancashire, England

"They are really cute and the video was good. I hope there are lots more stories!"

Devlin, 6, York, England

"I love these new mascots. So excited for 2012 and to see these mascots again!"

"They are really cute and look really special. They are going to be really good mascots. Everyone will love them."

Charlotte, 9, Devon, England

"I love Mandeville and Wenlock, I hope there will be cartoons of them! I love Mandeville who is a more blue colour because I support Bristol Rovers! If cartoons do come out, promise me Newsround, you'll let everyone know!"

Jade, 9, Bristol, England

"I think they are really cool. They are actually really cute and the story behind them is really sweet. I don't get why people don't like them."

Lewis, 11, London, England

"I think the Olympic mascots look awesome!"

"I don't like the mascots because they're not very realistic."

Adela-Marie, 10, Surrey, England

"I don't know if they'll get me more interested in sport because the 2012 Olympics, being in England, will get me more into sports anyway! BUT, they are really nice and I prefer them over traditional mascots, because traditional mascots are getting old and boring."

Dila, 11, London, England

Ryan, 12, Hartlepool, England

"I think they are stupid and have nothing to do with the Olympics. They look cheap and tacky."

"I really like the blue one because he looks 3D and he really stands out compared to all the other past mascots."

Tanaka, 12, East Sussex, England

"I don't really think that there's anything Olympic about them. If you were to see then for the first time, sport would not come into your head, Doctor Who would."
