Bieber and Jay-Z up for awards

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber has been nominated for the Best New Act award in a big black music ceremony in America.

The BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards will be held in Los Angeles next month.

Justin is up there alongside huge international stars like Jay-Z, Beyonce, Usher and Alicia Keys.

The organisers said: "Justin Bieber has crossed the colour boundaries in the way hip-hop has the other way for a number of years."

Jay-Z leads the nominations with five, while his wife Beyonce has four.

Justin has also become the one of the youngest singers to be nominated.

Chipmunk, Dizzee Rascal, Estelle and Corinne Bailey Rae are all in the running for the Best International Act.
