A list of the 70 best ever kids books has been released according to Puffin.

The publishing firm has divided its best reads into different categories like Best Heroes and Best Characters.

Roald Dahl is a huge favourite with his own section called Best Phizzwhizzers which includes The BFG, Matilda, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and Fantastic Mr Fox.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle was top of the Best to Cuddle Up With category.

Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief gets the thumbs up in Best Heroes.

And Charlie And Lola: Excuse Me But That Is My Book by Lauren Child makes an appearance in the Best Characters section.

Other popular classics include Treasure Island, Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Stig Of The Dump and Dracula.

And on the subject of vampires, there's a special category called The Best Alternatives to Twilight.

If you've read the series and seen the Robert Pattinson films then these titles might be up your street.

They include Beautiful Creatures, Vampire Academy, The Luxe and Along For The Ride by Sarah Dessen.
