Justin: 'I know what German is'

Justin Bieber has hit out at reports which claimed he didn't know what the word 'German' meant.

The row comes after an interviewer in New Zealand asked him if his surname meant basketball in German, and Justin didn't understand what he was saying.

Justin said he didn't know the word German, but later admitted he couldn't understand the interviewer's accent.

Now Justin's posted on Twitter saying the reports have got it wrong and they shouldn't pick on him.

Some people had suggested that because Justin spends so much time away from school, he didn't know what Germany was.

However, Justin said he just misunderstood the interviewer. Then he linked to an old interview he'd done on German TV where he counted to 10 in the language, and said his surname was German because his great-grandfather came from there.

'Good smile'

Justin tweeted: "Do your research next time b4 making a lame attempt at hating on a 16 year old."

The pop star then linked to another video of a baby laughing, while posting: "On that note I think everybody needs a good smile and laugh."
