Hundreds of guinea pigs are believed to have died in a fire at a pet breeding centre in Devon.
Police and fire crews were called to the site at Little Cholwell near Okehampton at about 00.30am on Tuesday.
Four sheds used to house small mammals were completely destroyed. Two vans and two cars at the site were also damaged.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated. It was originally thought that about 1,000 small animals had died, but many were rescued.
Members of the family, who breed guinea pigs, rabbits and rats managed to save some of the animals before being beaten back by the flames.
