Manchester United have said the scan of Wayne Rooney's ankle revealed only "minor ligament damage", and not the fracture they feared.
"We are pleased to report that Wayne has not suffered a fracture," a United spokesperson told the club's website.
Old Trafford hasn't said how long Rooney will take to recover, but manager Alex Ferguson is expected to reveal more details on Friday.
Sports experts reckon the news means he'll be able to play in the World Cup.
