Jamaica's mega school sports day

School sports day with a difference

On the island of Jamaica, school sports day is a massive deal.

Thousands of people go to the big national stadium to see 200 schools compete against each other. And the whole thing is broadcast on TV.

The four-day event grips the country, with everyone on the lookout to spot who could be the next Olympic champion.

It was at one of these events that Jamaicans got their first chance to see 100m world record holder Usain Bolt in action.

The annual event called Champs has been going on for 100 years.

Jamaica is famous for its speedy sprinters and lots of the winners at Champs go on to win medals at international competitions.
