David Beckham's had a successful operation to fix his injured foot - but doctors reckon he won't be fit in time to play in the World Cup.
Becks was playing for AC Milan on Sunday when he suffered the injury to his Achilles tendon which saw him stretchered off the pitch.
His doctor said the operation went well but the England star won't be running properly for three or four months.
England's first World Cup match is against the USA on 12 June.
It's bad news for Becks who had hoped to become the first ever English footballer to play at four World Cups in a row.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder had moved to AC Milan on loan so that he could keep up his fitness.
He wanted to make sure he was playing regularly as his current team LA Galaxy are on a season break.
England boss Fabio Capello said Beckham would have to play lots of football to stand a chance of being picked in his World Cup squad.
