Stars get set for 2010 Brits bash

Florence and the Machine

Pop and rock stars will be out in force on Tuesday night to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Brit Awards.

The music awards ceremony takes place at Earls Court in London, and this year it's all about the girls.

Florence and the Machine, Lily Allen, Pixie Lott and Lady GaGa lead the nominations with three each.

X Factor runners up JLS are also up for three awards, while Robbie Williams will be getting the Outstanding Contribution Award this year.

And Ellie Goulding has been named Critics Choice.

Prince Harry's playing a part too, with a special video message to wish the Brit Awards a happy 30th birthday.

What are the Brits?

The awards are the British equivalent of the Grammys, with most winners selected by a vote by more than 1,000 members of the music industry.

It's not just about prizes either. 'Brit' stands for British Record Industry Trust which funds young people in the arts, mostly though the Brit School in London.
