Chelsea and Manchester United will be without Ashley Cole and Ryan Giggs for weeks after both players suffered broken bones.
Cole will be out for three months after fracturing his ankle during the Blues' 2-1 win over Everton on Wednesday.
He now faces a race against time to be fit for the World Cup, as England's first match is in just four months.
Meanwhile, Ryan Giggs will miss the League Cup final against Aston Villa after breaking his arm.
He's expected to be out of action for at least a month.
