Old rock is valuable meteorite

The meteorite

An old piece of rock that was kept in someone's attic for years has turned out to be a valuable meteorite.

Dealer Jean-Jacques Carre found the rock in a box of statues he bought in 2001, but he didn't know what it was so he packed it away in his loft.

But he recently took the rock to a university in France where scientists told him it was a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite that holds clues to the start of the solar system.

Now it's being studied and is going on display at a museum in France.
