Haiti single is 'fastest-selling'

The haiti single on sale

The Haiti single organised by Simon Cowell has only been on sale two days, but it's already become the fastest-selling charity single of the century.

The cover of Everybody Hurts has sold more than 200,000 copies so far and is set to have one of the biggest first week sales of any single since 2000.

More than 20 artists took time out to help record the track, including JLS, Cheryl Cole, Miley Cyrus and Take That.

All the money raised will go to helping the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

4. Do They Know It's Christmas? by Band Aid 20 -Ethiopian Famine

The official death toll from the quake, which struck in mid-January, now stands at a staggering 230,000.

The proceeds of the single will be split between the Disasters Emergency Committee and the Helping Haiti appeal, which is being run by The Sun newspaper.

American group REM, who released the original track in 1993, aren't taking any royalty payments from the single, while the British government is donating the tax from any sales to boost the fund-raising effort.

Other artists featured on the track include X Factor winners Joe McElderry and Alexandra Burke, Mika, Robbie Williams and Britiain's Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus has organised an online auction to raise more money for the Haiti relief effort.

She'll be auctioning off some of her own outfits as well as stage costumes and awards dresses from the likes of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.
