There's been a big explosion in the Pacific Ocean near a Japanese island, believed to have been caused by an underwater volcanic eruption.

The Japanese Coast Guard filmed huge waves of sea water and spray rising out of the sea.

It happened near an island called Iwo Jima, off the coast of southern Japan.

The last underwater eruption in this area was in 2005.
