Man United storm into Cup final

Wayne Rooney celebrates his winning goal

Manchester United are through to the Carling Cup final after beating local rivals Manchester City 3 -1 at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney's injury time header secured the game for United, and ruined City's hopes of reaching their first major final for 29 years.

Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick also scored for United in the second half, with Carlos Tevez scoring City's goal.

United will go on to play Aston Villa on February 28th.

Police had urged fans to stay calm at the match, after trouble between Gary Neville and his former team-mate Carlos Tevez during the first leg of the Carling Cup.

There were some problems during the final too. Craig Bellamy was hit on the head with a coin, and a bottle was also thrown.
