Doctor Who scoops two big awards

David Tennant

Doctor Who has won two prizes at the National TV Awards, including best drama, for the fifth year in a row!

David Tennant, who has just quit as the Doctor, got the show's second award, winning the prize for outstanding drama performance.

Ant and Dec, Coronation Street and the X Factor were among the other winners.

Simon Cowell's singing show beat another of his programmes, Britain's Got Talent, in the most popular TV talent show category.

Simon has also confirmed he is organising a charity single to raise cash for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

He said: "We made a decision today. We had a request from the Prime Minister and the Sun newspaper - would we put a record together?

"We haven't got an awful lot of time, but we are going to do something and attempt to raise as much money as possible."

Big night

It was the ninth year in a row Ant and Dec shared the best entertainment presenter award.

And performances on the night came from X Factor winner Joe McElderry and another pair of the show's contestants, Jedward.
