JLS' Oritse loses family in Haiti

Oritsé from JLS has told Newsround how some of his cousins in Haiti have been killed by the earthquake there.

It's thought up to 200,000 people may have died in the quake which struck a week ago in the capital Port-au-Prince.

"I've got cousins who were killed in Haiti, and it's terrible," Oritsé said at the launch of the Brit Awards.

"It's a country that's been poverty-stricken for many years and for something like that to happen is absolutely tragic."

There have been huge problems with communications in Haiti because power and telephone lines there have been down.

But the singer says he's managing to keep up to date with what's going on.

"I've been speaking to my family who have been speaking to whoever they've got out there letting them know updates all of the time.

"It's been a horrible time but we're getting through it. And I've got my bandmates always, always."
