Avatar could be biggest film ever

Avatar is on track to become the most successful film of all time.

The 3D science fiction film about blue aliens has made an incredible £700 million since it came out, making it the second most popular movie ever.

It had already become the fastest film to make more than $1 billion (£625m) in ticket sales worldwide.

But Avatar still has some way to go before it beats Titanic, which is the most successful film ever, after it made a whopping £1.14 billion.

Avatar toppled Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, which had been in second place.

It also cost more money to make than any other film, with a final bill of around £187 million.

Director James Cameron, who also made Titanic, said he might make two more Avatar films, so just think how much money they could make!
