Beckham's winning return to Milan

David Beckham in action for AC Milan against Genoa

David Beckham has made his first on-loan appearance of the season for Italian side AC Milan.

His team beat Genoa 5-2 at the San Siro stadium, watched by England coach Fabio Capello.

Injuries to Alexandre Pato and Clarence Seedorf meant 34-year-old Beckham played further forward than usual.

Beckham is spending more time on loan from LA Galaxy in a bid to prove that he's good enough to play for England in the World Cup in South Africa.

Manchester United - 1991-2003
Preston North End (loan) - 1995
Real Madrid - 2003-2007
LA Galaxy - 2007 onwards
AC Milan (loan) - Jan 2009 - Jul 2009 and Jan 2010 - May 2010

He did really well during the match, and was on the pitch for 75 minutes before being replaced.

In February Milan will take on Beckham's old club Manchester United in the Champions League. He will stay with AC Milan until the end of the season.

It's the second time the England international has spent time playing for Milan, as his American team LA Galaxy play their matches at a different time of the year.
