X Factor Joe meets his home fans

Hundreds of screaming fans turned out in South Shields for the homecoming of X Factor winner Joe McElderry.

The 18-year-old signed copies of his new CD at a record store in his home town.

More than 2,000 people queued for hours to be in with a chance of winning 500 tickets for the signing event.

He still faces a tough race to be Christmas number one after thousands of people have been buying the Rage Against The Machine single Killing In The Name as a protest against X Factor.
