Magic Kingdom linked to UK town

Disney World

Swindon twinned with Disney World

Walt Disney World in America has been twinned with the town of Swindon in Wiltshire, south-west England.

Swindon beat 24 other UK towns in a competition for the chance to be twinned with the Magic Kingdom.

The winning entry was made by Rebecca Warren, who wrote a poem and filmed a video about her home town.

She said the massive roundabout in Swindon reminded her of the 'tea cups' ride at Disney World, and will now get to visit Florida as part of the prize.

Rebecca will be joined by her niece and nephew on the trip to unveil a sign in the theme park, explaining that the two places are linked.

There will also be a special exhibition about Swindon at Disney's Epcot theme park next year.

This is the first time the Magic Kingdom has been twinned with somewhere in the real world.
