Boys do worse in primary school

Boy in school

It's been revealed that boys in England haven't been doing as well in class as girls.

Researchers found that by the age of seven, girls have been doing better in English, science and maths.

But there was good news, as the study showed boys had caught up a bit with girls in reading.

The study was based on how well kids did at the end of Key Stage One. The last time the figures were released was in 2006.

The study was done by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, which helps decide how schools in England are run.
