Two stars of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here are in trouble in Australia for killing a rat during the show.

Gino D'Acampo and Stuart Manning have both been charged by police with animal cruelty after they killed a rat and made a meal from it.

The RSPCA in New South Wales, Australia, said it was "not acceptable" that a rat had been killed by the pair as part of a performance.

Police have told D'Acampo and Manning to appear in court on 3 February 2010.

At the time of the incident D'Acampo and Manning were living in a different part of the camp, where they only had very basic food to eat of rice and beans.

During that part of the show D'Acampo went into the video diary room and said that he had spotted the rat and picked it up and used his knife to kill it.

Australia RSPCA investigating

D'Acampo's normal job is a chef, and he was named King of the Jungle and the show's winner when it finished.

An ITV spokesperson said: "The Australian RSPCA are currently investigating an incident that a rat was killed in the camp."

Is it cruel to use animals in TV shows?

"It doesn't make sense. Why would you kill animals for whatever reason? I think it is very wrong!"
