People across the UK have been getting mucky as they take part in an attempt to set a tree-planting world record.

Organisers hoped to set a new mark for the most trees ever planted in a single hour, and attempted the record between 11am and midday on Saturday 5 December.

However it's going to take a while to find out if the record has been broken, as all the plantings must be counted.

Tree planters have got until Friday 11 December to send in photos proving they took part in the record attempt.

But breaking the record could be pretty difficult, as the existing number is a whopping 653,143 trees.
