Injury forces Woods out of event

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has had to withdraw from a tournament as a result of injuries he got in a car crash on Friday.

Woods was rushed to hospital after the incident, which happened just outside his house in the state of Florida.

Doctors told Woods he shouldn't play in the Chevron World Challenge, which is an event that Woods helps to organise and raises money for charity.

Woods has refused to explain what may have caused the crash, when driving from his home early in the morning.

A statement on the golfer's website over the weekend said the accident was "a private matter".

But police in Florida still want to talk to Woods to try to understand exactly what may have caused him to crash his car into first a fire hydrant, and then a tree.
