Who will be BBC Sports Personality of the year?

Ryan Giggs, Jenson Button and Tom Daley

The shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the year is out and includes Jenson Button, Ryan Giggs and 15-year-old Tom Daley.

Also nominated are heptathlete Jessica Ennis and triple jumper Phillips Idowu.

Boxer David Haye, gymnast Beth Tweddle and tennis star Andy Murray make the shortlist as well.

Last year the title was picked up by cyclist Chris Hoy who won three gold medals in the 2008 Olympics.

There's another cyclist up for the award this year, Mark Cavendish, who won six stages of the Tour de France.

And Ashes-winning England cricket captain Andrew Strauss is also up for the title.
