I'm proud of my hearing aids

Press Packer Eve

Press Packer Eve wears hearing aids, along with loads of other people in the UK.

Here she reports on why she thinks we should all be more aware of what being deaf means.

"My name is Eve and I wear hearing aids and I'm proud of it.

The only problem is nobody else knows what they are.

Lots of people say: "Oh yeah, my grandma has those things", because the problem is most people think they are for old people.

In fact there two million people in the UK alone wearing them.

Wearing hearing aids at school

At school I use a radio aid which helps me hear the teacher.

It helps me learn but it's embarrassing because my friends don't understand what it does.

I think the government should do more to promote hearing aids because one day they could be more popular than glasses.

There is no 'normal'

We could all be a lot more deaf aware because everybody has a disability and this is mine.

Sometimes not being able to do something makes us stand out from the rest.

But the most important thing we need to understand is that there is no normal!"
