Young Sports Personality of the Year final three

Three of the UK's brightest sporting stars are to battle it out to be named Young Sports Personality of the Year.

Diver Tom Daley, tennis player Heather Watson and athlete Jodie Williams are the three teenagers hoping to be given the prize on 13 December in Sheffield.

Daley has swum off with the prize before, winning it in 2007 when he was just 13 years old.

The trio were picked from a shortlist of 10 by judges including Sportsround's very own Ore and Blue Peter's Helen.

BBC Sport's Jake Humphrey - who used to present Newsround and Sportsround - was also on the panel.

After the panel picked the final three he said: "It was extremely difficult to whittle the list down to three but the trio we have selected are fantastic.

"It is incredible to think an overall winner will be picked from Tom, Heather and Jodie, who have conquered all on the world stage."
