CBBC's Dustbin Baby wins an International Emmy award

CBBC programme Dustbin Baby has beaten competition from around the world to win an important television award.

The programme - based on a book by fave kids' author Jacqueline Wilson - won the International Emmy for children and young people's programming.

The programme starred actress Dakota Blue Richards and was shown on BBC1 in December 2008.

The Emmys are like the Oscars for TV programmes. These awards were for all TV shows made outside America.

Julie Walters was another winner, scooping the prize for best actress.

But Julie wasn't in New York to pick up the trophy herself, because she's hard at work on the final Harry Potter films, The Deathly Hallows parts one and two.
