Bad weather battering Britain

Rough seas

Heavy rain and high winds have hit southern England, setting off flooding, with storms predicted for the weekend.

Dozens of roads are reported flooded in Cornwall, as well as some buildings, and rough weather has delayed some ferries leaving Dover.

High winds are due to pick up across the southern UK on Friday, peaking on Saturday morning at 80mph.

Forecasters predicts a short break in the weather at the end of the weekend, ahead of more storms next week.

The Environment Agency has issued 13 flood warnings - 10 in the South, two in the South West and one in Wales - as well as 51 lower "flood watch" alerts across England and Wales.
