Girl suffers non-stop sneezing

Lauren Johnson

Sonali reports on the sneezing girl

A girl in America has come down with a condition that makes her sneeze up to 16 times a minute, all day, every day.

Lauren Johnson, 12, was recovering from a cold when she started sneezing two weeks ago, and since then, has only stopped when she's asleep.

It has had a big impact on her life. She's had to leave school because her sneezing disrupts classes.

No-one knows what causes Lauren's condition, called machine-gun sneezing, so doctors don't know how to help her.

The sneezing has even affected how she eats.

She said: "I take smaller bites and chew for one or two seconds before I sneeze."

Lauren has been to see a doctor who said there was nothing wrong with her body that's causing the sneezing.

So now she's seeing a therapist to find out if something in her mind is making her sneeze.
