Chelsea win extends their lead

John Terry heads in the winning goal for Chelsea against Manchester United

Chelsea have gone five points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to a 1-0 win against Manchester United.

John Terry grabbed the only goal of the game off a Frank Lampard free kick in the 76th minute, giving the Blues their 10th home win in a row.

Wayne Rooney had a couple of near misses for United, but it wasn't to be, leaving them third in the table.

Earlier, Hull scored a vital 2-1 win over Stoke to lift them out of the bottom three.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink netted the winner in stoppage-time as Hull came back from 1-0 down.

It puts them one point above West Ham, who lost 2-1 at home to Everton.

Elsewhere, Wigan and Fulham had to settle for a 1-1 draw when neither side could break the deadlock.

The match also had the dubious honour of playing out in front of the lowest Premier League crowd so far this season, with just 16,172 people there.
