Toyota pull out of Formula One

Toyota won't be on the starting grid for the 2010 season of Formula One, after team bosses confirmed they're pulling out of the sport.

The company behind the team, also called Toyota, say they are stopping racing because they have lost so much cash this year.

Toyota hasn't won a Grand Prix since starting out in F1 back in 2002.

This means there are now no Japanese teams in F1, after Honda pulled out of the sport at the start of 2009.

Honda were replaced by Brawn GP, who went on to win this year's drivers' and constructor's championship.

Toyota's president, Akio Toyoda, announced his team were pulling out.

"It was a tough decision because we are betraying the expectations of fans," he said .

"I apologise to our fans from the bottom of my heart. I made the decision myself."
