Obama hands out Halloween sweets

Barack and Michelle Obama

American President Barack Obama joined in with the Halloween celebrations, handing out sweets to schoolchildren.

It's thought as many as 2,000 children went to the White House to get the special sweets and goodies on offer.

Michelle Obama joined her husband, and as well as handing over sugary snacks they also gave children packets of dried fruit as well.

The president decided not to dress up for the occasion, but Michelle wore some fake ears to become Catwoman.

Halloween may seem like a big deal in the UK, but it's nothing compared to the way America celebrates it.

The costumes and parties even travelled all the way to Iraq, where American soldiers dressed up for a costume competition.
